In its 20 years of activity, Linella chain of stores has proven that it is not only the first and largest national chain, with 120 stores throughout the country, but that it is also responsible, it cares and it developes in accordance with people’s, environment’s and society’s needs.

Over the years they have always joined the social initiatives with increased impact in the community and precisely for this reason, this year they supported the project carried out by the NGO Moldova Forestation, contributing with 20 000 tree saplings, for planting them near the village of Pohrebea.

In the last weekend of this autumn, the Linella team and their families started a tradition that they intend to carry on every year, and planted the first 1450 oak seedlings in the "Linella Forest". Planting this forest, in addition to its natural contribution – the reduction of CO2 emissions, will protect the inhabitants of Pohrebea village from floods, because the village is located higher, on the slope above, and will absorb and retain water flows during rains.

Maria Movileanu, Commercial Director of Linella:
"We are Linella chain of stores, one hundred percent Moldovan chain and we decided to forest Moldova. Linella chain of stores participates in various social and sustainability projects. This year we celebrate 20 years of activity in the Republic of Moldova and we intend to forestate with 20,000 trees the Pohrebea village, which is at risk of flooding. For this action we mobilized the team of Linella employees who came with all members of their families, and as you can see, we started this action, which must be continued with agricultural equipment until it reaches the number of 20,000. "

The planting of the forest was supposed to start much earlier, but due to lack of rainfall in November, the ground was too dry and the action was likely to be compromised, while the commitment of the NGO Forestation of Moldova and of Linella chain of stores was to plant a forest of oaks with maximum care and minimum losses. The planting of oaks will continue with agricultural equipment until the rows of the new forest in Pohrebea village will be filled with 20,000 trees.

Alexei Zgardan, Senior manager category Linella:

"I am very glad that today, together with colleagues from the Linella team, we are taking part in greening the fences of Pohrebea village, which will lead to stopping the landslides on this territory and, respectively, we are showing a good example to the future generations and we will watch hard how the trees in this region will grow.”

We hope that this gesture of spreading good deeds on behalf of the Linella team will serve an example for several Moldovan companies, because only together we can contribute to improving the quality of our environment.
