Description

The main value is concentrated in the seeds (the tiny black dots inside) and the shell itself. Removing the seeds: Place the pod on a board, cut it lengthwise with a sharp knife, and scrape out the seeds with the blunt side of the knife. Add them directly to cream, dough, or sauce. Flavoring liquids: If you're making pudding, custard, or ice cream, place the empty pod in milk or cream and bring to a boil (but do not boil for too long). Then remove the pod.
