7 AMAZING THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT MOLDOVAN WINE

1. The history of Moldovan wine begins in 3000 BC, the vine being attested here in 7000 BC.
2. 2% of the world vineyard area is located in Moldova, Moldova being one of the top 20 wine producing countries in the world and ranking the 13th in the top of wine exporting countries.
3. About a quarter of the population is involved in the process of wine production and viticulture.
4. In Moldova you will find the largest building in the world, built in The Shape of a bottle (28m), called The Museum of Strong Drinks.
5. Moldova is the only country that has a whole day dedicated to wine, the National Wine Day is a country-wide celebration of wine culture. In 2003 a commemorative coin was issued, dedicated to the National Holiday Wine Day, with the face value of 10 lei.
6. There are 4 wine regions in Moldova: Codru, Stefan-Voda, Valul lui Traian, Balti.
7. The authenticity and uniqueness of Moldovan wines is represented by the local grape varieties, which represent 10% of vineyards, the most popular are: Feteasca Alba, Feteasca Regala, Viorica, Feteasca Neagra and Rara Neagra.

HOW DO WE ASSOCIATE FOOD WITH THE MOST SUITABLE WINE ACCORDING TO THE CRITERION OF WINE CORPOREALITY?

The body of the wine is an important characteristic that must be taken into account when making associations with food. It's about the texture of the wine and its consistency. Full-bodied wines, for example, leave on the glasses the so-called "feet" or "tears".

Usually, full-bodied wines also have a higher alcohol volume and dishes can be classified according to this criterion, less full-bodied being considered fish-based dishes and very full-bodied red meat dishes.

Depending on this criterion, we make the associations in the following way:

Low-bodied wines - are thin wines, usually white, with a lower alcohol volume and are usually associated with dishes of equal corpulence – fish, vegetarian dishes, salads, appetizers and other lunch-specific dishes.

Medium-bodied wines - they can be both white and red wines and are associated with main dishes, which contain lean meat, but also pasta, pizza, dishes with heavier sauces, even in some dishes with a fatty fish variety.

Full-bodied wines – most of the time they are red, strong wines and are associated with dishes containing red meat, but also pasta with a heavier sauce. It is preferable to avoid pairing a full-bodied wine with acidic or highly spicy dishes.
